Chemical Peels

Chemical Peel 101

Do I need a chemical Peel? The answer? YES you do.  Most people can benefit from an exfoliating treatment.  The real question is, which chemical peel is best suited for your skin type?

Peels address many skin concerns.  Two common issues are poor cell turnover that dulls the skin and secondly, problematic skin, specifically acne. Each problem has its own solution. The first issue calls for an alphahydroxy acid. These can be a glycolic, lactic or even fruit acids that help strip away the old cell build up and reveal a more youthful appearing layer. For acne, a different approach is needed. Beta-hydroxy acids, like salicylic acid, break down oils, addressing whiteheads and blackheads.

Blended acid peels combine multiple ingredients such as alpha hydroxyl, betahydroxy,  and retinoic acids can safely treat several concerns at once.  These all-inclusive peels treat mild to severe skin imperfections, smooth fine lines and wrinkles and improve texture. They are also self-neutralizing, increasing safety and tolerability on the skin.   The patient normally peels 48 hours after the procedure and shedding of the skin lasts for 3-4 days.  Patients see noticeable results after just one peel and compelling results after several peels.

Once you decide you want a chemical peel, our team will guide you in deciding which peel is best for you.  Remember, in a medical setting, under the guidance of a physician, the peel strengths are higher and more effective.
