Eliminating Fine Lines with Laser Skin Resurfacing

June 19, 2017 by Gregg Bessette

Laser skin resurfacing

Fine lines are among the first signs of aging to show up on the face. When you first notice them in the mirror, however, there is no need to panic. There is good news in the fact that they can usually be easily eliminated with laser skin resurfacing. This is because these lines and wrinkles start to form when the skin loses some of the tightness it had in the past.

The substance in the skin that keeps it tight is called collagen. It is a protein that the body produces in the deeper layers of the skin. The level at which it grows does not remain constant through the years. Instead, the rate of production drops off as the years go by. This causes the skin to loosen and allows lines and wrinkles to develop.

Since the development of fine lines can be traced to a reduction in the quantity of collagen that is present, eliminating these unwanted wrinkles can be accomplished by increasing the amount present. Laser skin resurfacing treatments at our office stimulate the skin to grow additional collagen. This returns the tightness to a level that equals what it was when you were younger.

Laser skin resurfacing is performed in the comfort of our office without the need for anesthesia. We are proud to use the Fractional CO2 laser, which has shown to produce amazing results in many cases. During this treatment, the layers of damaged skin are removed so that the new and fresh skin underneath can be brought to the surface.

These treatments typically do not require a long period of downtime. Instead, you can plan on returning to normal activities relatively quickly. Most people are completely healed in about two weeks or so.

If you are concerned about the presence of fine lines on your face, you should consult with our cosmetic professionals at The Institute of Aesthetic Surgery about the benefits of laser skin resurfacing. You may be pleasantly surprised at how achievable younger-looking skin can be. We have locations in Celebration and Altamonte Springs. Contact us today to schedule a consultation and get started.
