Erase Lip Lines with Restylane Silk

September 28, 2015 by

Restylane Silk

Do you have lip lines that you would love to have erased? If you answered yes, then you should consider Restylane Silk. It is one of the newest hyaluronic acid fillers on the market, and it’s from the Restylane product family.

The second layer of your skin has something called hyaluronic acid inside of it. This acid is one of the most common components of your second layer of skin. The main function of this acid is to keep your skin structured. As the name would imply, Restylane Silk is a silky, smooth formulation. It consists of smaller particles of hyaluronic acid gel that is used to improve the fine lines that develop around the mouth. The particles can also correct the volume loss as well as smoker or lipstick lines that form around the lips.

The Difference

Besides Restylane, there is a family of other products in that brand. It contains the original Restylane, Perlane, and Restylane Silk, and they are all hyaluronic acid gels. The differences between these products are the uses and particle sizes of each product. The greatest difference between Restylane Silk and the other Restylane products is the particle size.

Juvederm and similar products are known as cohesive gels. They are not formed of particles while the Restylane family of products is.

How Is Restylane Silk Used?

We like to describe Restylane Silk as a dermal filler; however, it is designed specifically for non-surgical lip augmentation. It is also used to add smoothness and volume to lips through the filling of wrinkles and fine lines. The product is effective because it uses the body’s own hyaluronic acid to add volume. The result is a fuller, younger looking appearance.

How the Procedure Works

During the procedure, we will inject Restylane Silk directly into the part of your face that you agreed to have treated. Once the product is injected, it causes the target area to become younger and smoother looking because it fills in wrinkles and fine lines.

We might also inject it into the lips to provide a plumping effect. Many patients really enjoy the procedure because it provides instant results. By adding additional volume to the target area, Restylane Silk provides results that you can see immediately.

To minimize the amount of discomfort and pain experience, we use a very fine needle for the injection. Restylane Silk has a small percentage of lidocaine added to the formulation, which serves the role of a local anesthetic. When considering all of the dermal fillers currently on the market, Restylane Silk is easily the most comfortable, painless option.

The amount of downtime associated with this procedure is minimal. Some patients experience redness, numbness or swelling, and these are just some of the common side effects. The results from this procedure can last as long as 12 months. The results depend on the type of treatment performed. This procedure can also be used with other injectable treatments.

We here at the Institute of Aesthetic Surgery provide Restylane Silk. Our doctors will be able to assist you with any questions or concerns you might have about Restylane Silk to see if you are a right candidate. Contact us today to schedule a consultation at any of our three Florida locations.
