Smooth Sagging Skin with a Facelift

June 22, 2015 by

Facelift

Just because you’re experiencing the visible signs of aging does not mean you have to be unsatisfied with your appearance. A facelift procedure can restore smoother, tighter skin and reverse the signs of aging that are preventing you from looking and feeling your best.

Facelift Surgery 101

Facelift surgery corrects sagging skin and smoothes out wrinkles and lines in order to bring back a more natural-looking, beautiful profile. By eliminating deep skin folds, removing sagging skin, and lifting and firming deep facial skin tissues, this procedure can add years back to the face and restore self-confidence.

Why Get a Facelift?

As people naturally age, the skin starts to lose its natural elasticity and tissues in the face tend to lose volume. Over time, this can lead to jowls appearing on the lower part of the face, loose neck skin, and deep wrinkles. Everyone begins to show these signs at some point, but if you are among the thousands of Americans a year who are interested in a refreshed, younger look, you may be a good candidate for a facelift. A facelift procedure may be right for you if any of the following apply:

  • You always wear scarves or turtlenecks because you’re embarrassed about the loose skin on your neck.
  • You’re very self-conscious because your face and/or neck has sagging skin
  • You strongly feel that your aging appearance is having a negative impact on your personal relationships or career
  • When you look in the mirror, your face appears much older than you actually are or feel

Standard Facelift

A traditional or standard facelift addresses patients with skin that appears to be aging moderately or severely around the center of the face and neck area. This surgery is more extensive and, therefore, requires a bit more recovery time. However, the results will be considerably more dramatic as well. By making small incisions just behind the patient’s hairline, Dr. Richard Gregory is able to reposition deep skin tissues that are located just beneath the skin and effectively get rid of any excess skin in order to smooth out skin creases, eliminate sagging skin and jowls, and naturally restore a more youthful contour to the patient’s neck and face.

Mini-Facelift

People who show a small degree of sagging skin and jowling typically make good candidates for getting a mini-facelift. This procedure is a much less invasive method than a standard facelift, enabling the surgeon to tighten up deep facial tissues using shorter incisions, which are generally located across the hairline over each ear or in the natural skin creases around the ear. The tissues around the cheek area are naturally lifted and firmed in order to address jowling, redefine the jawline, and revitalize the patient’s ‘tired’ look.

Schedule Your Consultation

Even though you can’t escape the natural aging process, you don’t have to live with its visible effects of your face and neck. At Institute of Aesthetic Surgery, we’ll work with you to create a treatment plan designed to help you achieve your desired results. We offer both surgical and non-surgical facial rejuvenation treatments. We can help determine the most appropriate treatments for your individual needs.
