Non-surgical vs. Surgical Facelift – What is the Difference?

Facelift

A non-surgical facelift has been acclaimed by many doctors as well as the media as a viable and practical alternative to a standard surgical facelift. A non-surgical facelift is much quicker with virtually no recovery time and also significantly cheaper. But, is it a better choice? What are the differences between the two?

Traditional Surgical Facelift

There’s a huge difference between a non-surgical and a surgical facelift. The drooping skin that starts to develop as people continue to age can’t be reversed 100 percent with various fillers and toxins. Luckily, the ‘wind tunnel’ look (pulled facelift) is gone for good. Today’s cutting-edge facelift procedures enable cosmetic surgeons to work much quicker, safer, and create more natural looks overall.

Different traditional facelifts are available for patients to choose from. Some include getting a full facelift, lower facelift, mid facelift, or a combination neck lift and facelift. Depending on your cosmetic concerns, we’ll create a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs.

Non-surgical Facelift

Essentially, there are three primary kinds of facial aging:

For the most part, a non-surgical facelift can help remedy the effects of sun damage and loss of volume. Facial fillers are used to address lost volume in the face while toxins are used to paralyze tiny muscles to eradicate fine lines and wrinkles, including crow’s feet and frown lines.

Fillers are available in two kinds: non-absorbable (permanent) and absorbable (temporary). The target areas that need to be filled will determine which kind the doctor uses. They’re added to key areas where creases or wrinkles have developed over time such as the cheeks or nasolabial folds. Temporary facial fillers consist of hyaluronic acid, which occurs naturally in the body.

On the other hand, toxins are used to paralyze target muscles that handle creating wrinkles and lines. They keep them from contracting, and thus prevent the formation of new wrinkles. The muscles can no longer make expressions or generate the movement that makes wrinkles. In time, fine lines eventually smooth out, and new creases are prevented from forming. Toxin facial injections are a super quick way to address lines and wrinkles and only take about 20-30 minutes to perform. The results last approximately 4-6 months.

Overall, more people are leaning towards non-surgical facelifts since they’re faster, non-invasive and offer more natural-looking results overall. They can adequately fill in deep facial lines and wrinkles or even adjust the shape of a person’s face without risking disfigurement. Also, injectables can allow for very specific treatment in target areas to enhance or restore natural and youthful beauty without the need for comprehensive surgery.
