What to expect after sclerotherapy in Orlando

February 8, 2018 by

When considering any surgical procedure, including sclerotherapy in Orlando, it is important to remember that each patient recovers differently. Even so, you can use the following as a rough guide on how your recovery will progress. It may also answer some of your questions with regard to the course of sclerotherapy recovery.

Within two weeks of your sclerotherapy in Orlando

You should be able to resume many of your regular activities almost immediately after undergoing sclerotherapy in Orlando. One of the benefits of sclerotherapy treatment is that it is a relatively minor procedure from which patients recover quickly.

In most cases, your doctor may recommend that you wait for about 10 days after your sclerotherapy treatment to resume your regular exercise regimen such as running or lifting weights. If you are going to be lifting anything over 20 lbs, it is also recommended that you wait until after the 10-day period. However, you can adopt a modified workout with less strenuous exercises such as walking.

The risk of infection from a sclerotherapy procedure is relatively low; however, we suggest that you not soak in water, such as in pools or in hot tubs during the first 10 days after the treatment. You can shower, but you should keep the bandage applied after the procedure in place for the first 24 hours.

One month after sclerotherapy in Orlando

You will still be healing at this point and should still apply warm compresses to the site of the procedure. Gentle massages to the general area of the injection site are also recommended during this period.

Around this time, you may be scheduled to come in for a follow-up scan. It is at this point that your doctor will determine whether any further treatments are necessary. It is important to note that the necessity of further treatments will vary depending on your specific symptoms. Your doctor will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Six months after sclerotherapy in Orlando

At this point, you will have healed significantly. If on the rare chance, however, you experience any discomfort you should make a follow-up appointment.

After the six-month point

Even if you have had your veins evaluated at the one- and six-month points after the procedure, you should still have them assessed again each year. If you notice that you are developing new symptoms, make an appointment to be evaluated.

To ensure that the healing process goes smoothly, make sure that your sclerotherapy in Orlando is performed by a practitioner who is experienced and qualified. Contact us at the Institute of Aesthetic Surgery to learn more about what we offer.
