Add Volume to Your Chest with a Breast Augmentation

May 4, 2015 by

breast augmentation

One of the most popular types of cosmetic surgery is a breast augmentation. This surgical procedure involves enhancing a woman’s breasts for size, shape, or lift.

Many women seek this type of cosmetic surgery procedure when they are unhappy or insecure about the small size of their breasts or when they experience sagging in the chest due to aging, childbirth, or breastfeeding. A breast augmentation allows women to regain a certain level of self-confidence they might not have enjoyed for some time.

Breast augmentation surgery involves breast implants being inserted either underneath or over the pectoral muscles. Implants are generally available in saline or silicone and the patient chooses whether they are set over or under the pectoral muscles. We’ll discuss both options with you during your consultation. We can help determine the safest and most effective treatment method for your individual needs.

A breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia, so that the patient experiences no pain and only minimal discomfort. The doctor makes small incisions, either under the armpit or in the areola, to perform the surgery and then ensures that there is minimal scarring after closing the incisions.

The patient is usually able to return home shortly after the surgery – which takes approximately one to two hours. She will likely be prescribed a pain medication to combat the discomfort as she heals from the procedure or will be advised by the doctor to take over-the-counter drugs like acetaminophen. Heavy lifting is not advised for up to six weeks. Patients are usually able to return to work and their normal routine around two weeks following surgery.

Patients will have to return to the doctor to have general maintenance for breast augmentation. If silicone implants were chosen, it is necessary to undergo an MRI every three years, and implants may have to be replaced – especially if they rupture. However, there are great benefits of getting a breast augmentation as women can enjoy a better self-esteem and a fuller and more feminine figure.

If you are a woman who has battled distinctive body issues as a result of small breasts, you can add more volume to your chest with a breast augmentation. At Institute of Aesthetic Surgery in Orlando, Dr. Roxanne Sylora specializes in breast procedures, including breast augmentation. She will meet with you to answer any questions you may have and help you get ready to the procedure. We understand that your performance at work or in your social life can largely depend on how you look and your self-esteem. It is our goal to help you look as great as you feel. Contact Institute of Aesthetic Surgery today to schedule your consultation.
