Am I a Good Candidate for Chemical Peels?

August 8, 2016 by

chemical peels

There are many cosmetic treatments out there that have been able to work wonders for individuals who use them. For example, when a person gets a facelift, they are likely to look at least 10 years younger. Individuals who get other cosmetic treatments are able to treat acne, minimize wrinkles and repair sun-damaged skin. However, before a person schedules a consultation for a treatment, they need to see if they are a good candidate. For individuals who are interested in chemical peels, there are a couple of qualifications that they need to meet in order to have the treatment done.

The very first requirement that a person must meet is having a skin condition that chemical peels are able to treat. It is most common for patients to visit our office in order to have acne and acne scars treated. In addition to acne scars, chemical peels sometimes work well for other scars, depending on how deep they are and why they were caused.

Chemical peels are also great for dealing with wrinkles and fine lines. These wrinkles may be the result of sun damage or they may be due to the natural aging process. Also, individuals who have aging skin, sagging skin and problems like crow’s feet may be able to benefit from chemical peels.

During a consultation at our office, we are going to closely examine your skin. Good candidates for chemical peels have skin that is free from active diseases and infections. Basically, the best candidates are in good overall health.

There are certain types of topical creams that you will not be allowed to use in the days leading up to the chemical peel. For example, if you usually use something that contains Renova or Retin-A, we will ask that you stop using these products at least 48 hours before treatment. If you use any type of skin care products that are designed to lighten or bleach the skin, you will want to stop taking these as well.

Chemical peels have been able to help individuals with a variety of skin colors and skin tones. For those who qualify, this non-surgical treatment can work wonders for a person’s skin. They can get rid of blemishes and leave you looking younger and more vibrant. To see if chemical peels can help you, talk to the experts at The Institute of Aesthetic Surgery. We have offices Altamonte Springs and Celebration. Contact us today to schedule your consultation.
