Donovan T. Rosas, MD
Dr. Donovan Rosas, M.D. is a Board Certified, Ivy League educated, fellowship trained plastic surgeon. His expertise spans the whole of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He proudly joins IAS and enthusiastically brings his experience and expertise to the Orlando area.
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University majoring in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology publishing his thesis on the origins of avian sibling rivalry. A scholar athlete for the Princeton Baseball Tigers, Dr. Rosas graduated in 2000, ultimately trading the bright lights of the baseball diamond for the bright lights of the operating theater.
Dr. Rosas earned his medical degree from the School of Medicine & Dentistry in Rochester, NY. He has been honored for his academic achievement and served as adjunct faculty in the Department of Physical therapy at the University of Rochester/Ithaca College. Under the tutelage of some of the most renowned surgeons in the field, he was actively engaged in groundbreaking clinical research and his interest in plastic and reconstructive surgery blossomed.
He returned to the Ivy League, receiving his combined training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. He subsequently completed a one-year aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery fellowship at Harvard University Medical School/Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. He was appointed to the position of Assistant in Surgery in the Division of Plastic Surgery, Massachusetts General Hospital, serving as an instructor to both residents and medical students.
Dr. Rosas joins The Institute of Aesthetic Surgery after faithfully serving the Rockland County, NY area for the last five and a half years. During that time, he was on staff at Nyack Hospital and Good Samaritan Hospital, Suffern. There he was actively engaged in the treatment of breast cancer offering the cutting edge in breast reconstruction to his patients.
He was also on staff at the wound centers for both facilities lending his talents to the care and management of traumatic and chronic non-healing wounds. Dr. Rosas is certified in hyperbaric medicine and serves on the faculty for Life Support Technologies hyperbaric medicine instructional curriculum.
Dr. Rosas has published/presented his award winning work on a number of topics ranging from advanced aesthetic to reconstructive areas at both regional and national conferences.
Dr. Rosas and his wife, Dr. Monica Hamburgh MD/PhD (pediatrics) and their daughters Madeline (7) and Juliette (5) are recent transplants to the Orlando metropolitan area. While they hail from NY, the family’s roots stretch back to Florida having been married in the shadow of Cinderella’s castle in 2007. He is an avid baseball fan and in his leisure time looks forward to enjoying spring training from the other side of the chalk lines of the diamond.
