Restylane Silk for Smoothing Lines Around the Mouth

November 23, 2015 by

Restylane® Silk

On top of your desire for fuller lips, are you hesitant about undergoing painful and costly lip injections? Do you also have fine lines surrounding your mouth? If so, then Restylane® Silk will not only enhance your lips, it will also smooth those pesky wrinkles!

What is Restylane® Silk?

As you age, the mouth begins to show signs of aging as the lips begin to thin and lose their shape.

Restylane® Silk is comprised of hyaluronic acid, and it’s different from most lip fillers and enhancements because it carefully shapes the lips and contours to your mouth’s natural shape. It gives your lips more definition while eliminating the small lines and wrinkles surrounding the mouth.

It’s different than other fillers on the market because it’s made with smaller particles than its competitors. This lets doctors use an ultrafine needle which results in a less painful treatment. The smaller particles allow for a supple, organic look once the injections are complete.

The other fillers don’t last very long because the mouth is constantly in motion and the particles simply aren’t that durable. An FDA trial of Restylane® Silk showed 76 percent of participants still saw improved lips six months later.

What to Expect During Treatment

Restylane® Silk was reformulated to include lidocaine in the gel, so it’s significantly less uncomfortable to patients now. The doctor will apply a numbing cream around the mouth about 20 minutes prior to the injections.

Once it begins, the actual treatment will only take 15 to 30 minutes to do. The numbing cream, fine needle, and lidocaine make this virtually pain-free.

You might experience redness or bruising after the injections, but these side effects are minimal and disappear quickly.

There is no downtime with Restylane® Silk; you can go back to work or your normal activities immediately afterwards.

Can the Procedure Be Reversed?

Hyaluronic acid fillers aren’t necessarily reversible, but they can be dissolved with a special enzyme if you don’t like your results.

It won’t get your “original” lip shape back, but it will get fairly close to the mouth you started with.

Does Restylane® Silk Treat Anything Else?

Restylane® Silk’s small particle size means it’s an option for other facial lines like forehead lines, crow’s feet, or horizontal necklace lines. Some doctors use the gel to improve the volume in the eyelids or to lift the brow.

Since these are considered “advanced usage”, you should ensure your doctor is experienced in these techniques with this product.

If you want naturally shaped and lusciously plump lips without surgery, you now have hope. Contact The Institute of Aesthetic Surgery today to see if Restylane® Silk is right for you.
