What Is Restylane Lyft Used for?

March 27, 2023 by Alexandra Colvin

Do you feel frustrated when you look in the mirror because you look older than you feel? Are you tired of spending as much time and money as you do on cosmetics in an attempt to look younger? If so, you may be a good candidate for Restylane Lyft injections at The Institute of Aesthetic Surgery in Celebration, FL. We offer many safe, effective anti-aging treatments, but today, we are focusing on this injectable dermal filler in particular.

What Is Restylane Lyft Used for?

Restylane Lyft, formerly known as Perlane, is one of our most popular hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. It is primarily used to restore volume to the cheeks to correct a severe lack of collagen.

It can also enhance the appearance of your midface if you lost a lot of fat and now look ill or a lot older than you are. Additionally, this injectable dermal filler can be administered into the backs of the hands, eliminating wrinkles and minimizing the appearance of varicose veins.

Am I a Good Candidate for This Treatment?

You can generally expect to qualify for this treatment if you are at least 22 years of age and concerned about volume loss in your face or hands. However, an initial consultation is required to verify your candidacy. Besides ensuring that this treatment will be effective for you, it is imperative that we review your health and lifestyle to ensure that it will be safe for you.

Who Doesn’t Qualify for This Treatment?

You will be considered a poor fit for this treatment if you suffer from a bleeding disorder or medical condition that causes slow wound healing, like untreated diabetes. Additionally, this treatment may not be appropriate for you if you have a personal or family medical history of developing keloid scars. Pregnancy and nursing are also contraindications.

What If I Feel Self-Conscious About My Lips or Mouth?

If your goal is to treat problems related to your lips and mouth, Lyft injections will not be effective for you. However, you may be the perfect candidate for Restylane Silk injections. Silk is typically used to augment thin lips or improve the symmetry of the lips. In other cases, though, it is used to safely and effectively erase mouth lines.

How Should I Prepare for My Treatment Session?

Due to the non-invasive nature of this treatment, there is not a long, hard-to-follow list of preparation guidelines. However, there are several essential preparation steps you will need to take. One of the most common contraindications for this treatment is skin irritation at the planned injection site, so it is crucial that you do everything you can to prevent skin irritation in the weeks leading up to your appointment.

What Should I Expect After My Treatment Session?

After your treatment session is complete, there is no downtime required, and you can expect your recovery to be a breeze. There are a few recovery guidelines you will need to follow, but they shouldn’t be too difficult to stick to. For instance, you will need to avoid sweating and exposure to extreme temperatures. If you work in a climate-controlled environment, you will be able to return to work once your injections are administered.

Another important recovery guideline you will need to follow is to avoid the consumption of alcohol or tobacco products. However, you will only need to avoid these substances for 24 hours following your treatment. Furthermore, you should sleep on your back to ensure that there is not too much pressure applied to the treatment area. Ideally, you should have two or three pillows elevating your head above your heart.

How Soon Can I Expect to See My Desired Results?

You may notice that your skin feels a bit tighter, plumper, and smoother as soon as your injections are administered. However, this is due to the presence of the filler and extra water drawn into the area. You should not expect to see your final results as soon as your treatment is over. Rather, you should expect to see your desired results approximately four weeks after your injection session.

How Long Can I Expect My Ideal Results to Last?

As a general rule of thumb, you can expect your ideal results to last for approximately six months. It is impossible to predict accurately how long your ideal results will last due to the number of factors that affect the longevity of the results.

In general, you can expect to enjoy your ideal results for longer if you are young and relatively healthy. Regardless of your age and health, you can take steps to extend the longevity of your results by modifying your diet and adopting a healthy skincare routine.

What Can I Do to Extend the Longevity of My Results?

Eat Nutritiously

Modifying your diet is one of the most effective steps you can take to enjoy long-lasting Restylane Lyft results. This restylane lyft treatment works by increasing localized collagen production, and your skin needs lots of nutrients to produce collagen and keep it healthy. Vitamin C and zinc are two of the most important micronutrients to eat in abundance if you want to keep your skin beautiful, young, and healthy for as long as possible.

However, it is not enough to make sure you get plenty of micronutrients in your diet. Adequate protein consumption is also essential. Protein is made up of amino acids, and your skin needs an adequate supply of three essential amino acids to produce and maintain the integrity of its collagen. Ideally, your nutrition should come from whole foods rather than supplements due to the poor bioavailability of nutritional supplements. Good foods to include in your diet are:

  • Citrus fruits
  • Tropical fruits
  • Dark green vegetables
  • Seafood
  • Poultry
  • Beef
  • Pork
  • Legumes

Protect Your Skin From UV Damage

It is also crucial that you protect your skin from UV damage if you want to enjoy your ideal results for as long as possible. You can go a long way towards accomplishing this by cutting out light-based tanning methods. In other words, you shouldn’t sunbathe or use most self-tanning methods to darken your skin. However, this is not all you can do to prevent premature skin aging.

You should also make sure that you wear sunscreen daily regardless of how overcast it is outside. Clouds do not provide adequate protection from UV rays. Keep in mind, though, that it is not sufficient to only apply sunscreen in the morning. You need to reapply it regularly, especially if you will be sweating or swimming. During your initial consultation, we will advise you on the minimum SPF you need for adequate protection from UV damage.

Keep Your Skin Hydrated and Moisturized

You can also help to extend the longevity of your results by making sure your skin stays moisturized and hydrated. To ensure your skin stays moisturized, make sure you implement a moisturization routine that is appropriate for your skin type. Moisturizing once daily is enough for most people, but people with dry skin should moisturize every morning and night. It doesn’t matter too much when you moisturize, but you should consider doing it after you bathe if you use hot water.

To ensure your skin stays hydrated, you should consume enough hydrating fluids consistently. Typically, women need to drink six to eight cups of hydrating fluids and eat plenty of foods that are high in water to remain hydrated in the Orlando area. Men usually need closer to 16 cups of hydrating fluids daily to maintain adequate hydration. Your fluid intake needs will be higher if you have a higher-than-average activity level.

Moderate Your Intake of Harmful Substances

You can also help to extend the longevity of your ideal results by minimizing the amount of harmful substances you consume. If possible, you should avoid the consumption of nicotine, and you should limit yourself to one or two units of alcohol daily. Furthermore, you should limit your consumption of foods that cause premature skin aging.
