What is Breast Implant Revision?

July 25, 2016 by

breast implant revision

A breast implant revision is a procedure that is performed by a plastic surgeon to make changes to existing breast implants. The surgery may involve replacing implants, removing implants or addressing issues with scar tissue around the implants. A breast implant revision procedure may also involve a change in the position of breast implants. You may choose to have a breast implant revision if you experienced complications during your breast augmentation surgery or if you are not happy with your results. The main reason that a breast implant revision is performed is to ensure that you are satisfied with the appearance of your breasts in the end.

Why Consider a Breast Implant Revision?

You may opt for a breast implant revision if your implants have deflated. This is a common problem with saline implants. Leakage from silicone implants is another concern. You do not want to allow silicone to be released in your system. If you notice changes in the shape of your implants or they have lost volume, you should see our doctor. Medical imagery can detect issues with leakage from your implants. Our plastic surgeon can go in and correct the problem by replacing your implants.

You’re Not Satisfied with the Size of Your Implants

As a woman who has chosen to have breast implants, you know that size matters. You won’t truly be able to see what your enlarged breasts will look like until the surgery is over. If you feel that your implants are too big or too small, our plastic surgeon can make any changes that you prefer.

Your Implants Have Shifted Out of Position

In some cases, breast implants have been known to shift, creating an unnatural appearance that is not attractive. Our talented plastic surgeon has the tools and expertise to resolve the problem.

You’ve Experienced Capsular Contracture

Capsular contracture is a frustrating condition that affects many women after breast implant surgery. Scar tissue forms around the implants and creates an unappealing appearance that will make you want to hide your breasts. Turn to our plastic surgeon for a solution.

Aging and Fluctuations in Weight Have Changed Your Breasts

As time goes by, you may see your breasts start to sag and appear to lose volume, even with breast implant surgery. The same holds true with fluctuations in weight. As you gain and lose weight, it changes the shape of your breasts. A breast implant revision procedure can help you to give a boost to the volume of your breasts. If you require a breast lift to raise your breasts to a more youthful position, our plastic surgeon can take care of that procedure as well.
