Facial surgery can offer great results for minimizing many common signs of aging and restoring a more youthful appearance. While everyone has different results they are trying to achieve, our medical team at Institute of Aesthetic Surgery can help you realize your aesthetic goals.
Below, Dr. Gregory addresses the issue of healing after facial surgery. While each patient is different, healing times can be fairly consistent for most people. If at any time during the healing process you have questions or concerns, our highly trained staff can help! We strive to offer the best patient care from initial consultation to the healing process.
Most side effects of facial surgery will be gone within six weeks, even though numbness and other minor side effects can last for months or even years. Most of my patients are able to return to work or social activity within two weeks. The fact that you have the prolonged side effects may indicate that you heal more slowly, but I also wonder if there is another reason. Certainly there are treatments which can speed the relief of the symptoms, but the bottom line is that healing is variable and will take time. If you are making slow but the certain progress I would not be too concerned about it. Otherwise, return to your surgeon or get a second opinion.
